To those who find them helpful, as aids to
praying "in faith", these written prayers are
provided as patterns and examples of praying the
truths of God's Word back to Him. Much of God's
Word can be wonderfully incorporated into vital
expressions of prayer and intercession, as these
prayer patterns illustrate.
Written prayers can be helpful when they are an
expression of faith in God, and they are used
correctly. There are many written prayers recorded
in Gods Word, the most familiar to most is
the Lords Prayer. The fact that any written
prayer can be reduced to vain
repetition, or could be wrongly expressed as
a form of Christian magic, does
illustrate the potential for their misuse, but need
not reflect badly on written prayers. Any prayer,
including those in the Word of God, can be prayed
in the flesh and not in faith.
These prayer patterns are offered as examples of
our bringing our will into submission and alignment
with Gods will, as expressed in His Word.
They are not in any way represented as a way of
bringing God under obligation to us, or to
manipulate Him to serve us.
For the sake of any who may be struggling with some
degree of inner spiritual conflict, or who are
ministering to those who are, we offer a word of
encouragement and explanation: some people may
encounter difficulty in praying and expressing
aloud truths of Gods word, statements of
faith, or even the name of Jesus. Such
difficulty should not be cause for alarm or fear,
but may be indicative of spiritual resistance from
the kingdom of darkness. In such instances, prayer
patterns (such as The Carpenter Prayer)
and statements of faith (such as provided in books
like The Adversary), may serve as form of
diagnostic tool, either unintentionally or
purposefully. By this we mean that difficulty in
expression of specific elements of certain prayers
and statements of faith can sometimes point to (or
expose) the nature of specific spiritual
strongholds. Generally, we should ask God to
further illuminate or reveal the nature of the
difficulty or resistance, to expose the nature of
any strongholds hidden behind the resistance, and
to bring the specific truths of His Word to bear on
the lie(s) at the root of the stronghold (2 Cor.
10:3-5). If this is not possible, and the
difficulty cannot be overcome alone, we encourage
you to seek Godly biblically-balanced assistance
from someone God has equipped for such
ministry.
